Did you know a Brow Lift can refresh your look?

No one expects to be immune from the aging process but sometimes we show age earlier than we would like. If your eyes and forehead become droopy and lined, it can be particularly troublesome because this can cause you to look tired, angry, or sad. And that’s not the image you want to convey to others. If you are concerned about your sagging, wrinkled forehead and heavy brows, a brow lift may be a good option for you.

A brow lift, also known as forehead lift or eyebrow lift surgery, enables a person to eliminate sagging skin on the forehead. It repositions the underlying forehead muscles and tissues, resulting in a smoother, more youthful contour in the upper portion of the face.

A brow lift raises drooping brows that contribute to a sad, tired or angry-looking face. It also relaxes the brow and smooths out forehead wrinkles. Excess skin is trimmed away, while the remaining skin and tissue are tightened. The procedure is performed either through traditional techniques or an endoscopic approach that requires smaller incisions.

Who is a candidate for a Brow Lift?

Dr. Klimczak and Dr. Hancock will be able to determine whether you will benefit from a brow lift surgery during your in-person consultation. The following criteria are required for patients to be considered for the procedure:

  • Must be in good health and not have any medical conditions that would adversely affect surgery
  • Not be on any medication that may affect recovery
  • Furrows are visible between the brows or have visible forehead wrinkles or drooping brows
  • Have realistic expectations

What is a Brow Lift recovery like?

After a traditional brow lift procedure, you will have an incision closed with sutures hidden within your hairline which are removed within the first 7-10 days after surgery. After an endoscopic brow lift, you will have small incisions hidden within your hairline that are closed using dissolvable sutures which dissolve within a few weeks.

Regardless of the type of eyebrow lift procedure, your forehead will likely feel tight and sore and you may experience some mild to moderate discomfort during your brow lift recovery. This can be managed with prescription or over-the-counter medication. Some patients also experience temporary numbness above the brows.

Side effects you may experience are; swelling and bruising, but this will improve within a few days. Keeping your head elevated will help to alleviate the swelling. Most patients find that they can return to work and social activities after approximately 7-10 days.

Benefits of a Brow Lift?

While many procedures can reduce the signs of aging, few can alter your facial expression in a way an eyebrow lift can. The benefits include:

  • Enhanced facial appearance with the reduction of frown lines and wrinkles
  • Brighter, more youthful eyes
  • Increased self-confidence

Risks of a Brow Lift?

  • Facial asymmetry
  • Persistent pain

FAQ’s

Traditional brow lift: Small inconspicuous incisions are made either behind the hairline or directly in front of the hairline. Any excess skin is removed and the eyebrows are raised to an attractive, natural-looking position. If the forehead is being shortened, an additional incision can be made in the anterior hairline to pull the skin downward. Incisions are then closed using skin adhesives, surgical clips or removable/absorbable sutures.

Endoscopic brow lift: Tiny, short incisions are made within the hairline, and an endoscope (a thin tube with a camera on the end) or a lighted scope is inserted. Tissue and muscles under the skin are adjusted to reduce furrows and brows are lifted and repositioned on the forehead. The incisions are then closed using removable or absorbable sutures and skin adhesives. Making incisions in the hairline has the added benefit of virtually undetectable scars.

A brow lift targets the forehead area, lifting and repositioning sagging eyebrows to rejuvenate the upper face. An eyelid lift, on the other hand, focuses on the eyelids, removing excess skin and fat to achieve a more youthful and refreshed appearance around the eyes.

Yes, a brow lift can often be performed simultaneously with other cosmetic procedures such as facelifts, eyelid lifts, or rhinoplasty. Combining procedures can provide comprehensive rejuvenation and optimize results while minimizing downtime and overall recovery. However, it depends on the individual’s specific needs and the recommendations of their plastic surgeon.
